TECHNOLOGY FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY PARTICIPATION IN ELECTRICITY MARKETS

The objective of the project has been to develop a set of advanced ICT solutions that facilitate the effective participation of renewable parks in the wholesale electricity markets. SIBILA has made it possible to develop and demonstrate the technical feasibility of algorithms and decision support systems to identify participation strategies for renewable generation in these markets.

This has been achieved through a software platform composed of tools that allow suggesting an optimal strategy in the daily market, intraday and secondary regulation services, tertiary regulation and diversions, as well as with tools that facilitate the participation of renewables in the zone’s secondary regulation.

The SIBILA project has contributed to establishing the guidelines for the optimal design of a multi-technology AGC system that includes renewable energies. The results indicate that wind generation can be adequately integrated into a regulation zone, both in a scenario of passive participation and in a scenario of active participation, and in any situation of wind production in the parks.
