MAINTENANCE PLANNING TOOLS WITH DRONES AND SCADA DATA ANALYSIS INTEGRATION FOR PV PLANTS

The objective of Drone4PV project is to develop a new product to be introduced to the market for optimizing O&M activities at utility-scale PV plants. It proposes a novel approach based on the combination of automated aerial inspections with data analytics from operational SCADA systems.

This tool enhances PV plants performance and reliability through the combination of image processing from drones with SCADA data analysis in order to detect most of the main problems at PV modules in large utility-scale solar.

The focus is set in the development of the automation of the process to capture thermographic images using drones, optimizing their operation parameters (flight path depending on plant geometry, previous results from SCADA data analysis…), the processing of the images to effectively detect hotspots, PID, string disconnections or other problems and to integrate it with the SCADA analysis to provide accurate O&M recommendations
